Francis Engineering was contracted by the Cummings/Centex Joint Venture to install the Fire Sprinkler system for the referenced facility. This project started as 2.4 M sq. ft on seven (7) floors and was quickly increased to 3.0M sq. ft on nine (9) floors with little notice for team expansion and additional resources. The four (4) Foam Deluge Systems were increased to sixteen (16), with Linear detection System in lieu of Smoke Detectors shown in the contract documents.
Due to system demand, a ground range tank had to be included. The Fire Marshall also imposed some special testing requirements that every Deluge Zone should be flowing water on day 1, followed with flowing Foam at the Design Concentration on day 2, while establishing a uniform spray pattern.
The team in place recognizing the additional demand accepted the challenge and we were able to handle all the modifications, and delivered the project (for which our Contract increased from $2.1M to $4.0M) successfully on schedule and on budget.
